My Valedictory Speech

Sara Oliphant left Arinagour Primary School in June 1996. She is now a pupil at Oban High School.

When I was going to school on my first day, I got my picture taken. I don't remember everything but I remember I liked it very much.

Mrs Gallacher and Mrs Kennedy were my first teachers until I was in Primary Three. That was a good year because it was my first school trip. I went to Edinburgh and we went swimming, to the pictures, to Edinburgh Castle and ice skating.

We learnt about Greyfriar's Bobby - he was a famous dog who saved a life. That was a good trip but it wasn't one of the best - you'll hear about that one in a minute.

Anyway, Mrs Gallacher and Mrs Kennedy went away so we got two more teachers called Mrs Walker and Mrs Lawn but they were only here for about a month till Mrs Barr and Mrs Evans came three years ago. When Mrs Barr first came I thought, " Oh! She looks like a nice teacher." But when she taught she was really nice and she was really helpful.

I am not saying that all the other teachers were not, but she taught in a special way.

When I was in Primary Five, I thought I was a Big One. ( I was thinking, "Yes, I'm leaving school in two years.)

Something else happened when I was in Primary Five. My sister came into school. There's good things and bad things about that! The good thing was that it made me feel BIG and the bad thing was that I had to walk up to school with her and she was always slow. She hasn't speeded up since then, but maybe she will when I am away!!

Then there was the School Trip. We went go-carting and we went to this fun park called Landmark. (It was really good.) They are the only bits I remember. That was my favourite trip because there were so many things to do and you didn't get bored.

My Final year was very exciting because I had to prepare for high School, which included doing a bridging topic called Sands of Time. Mrs Barr and I visited Oban High School for my induction days and I am really looking forward to going. Of all the things I have learned I have enjoyed doing P.E., drama and technology most of all.

When I go to High School I will miss my friends, family and going for rides on my bike. I will probably miss Primary School as well, but I am looking forward to doing things that I can't do on Coll.
