The New Playpark: - During tbe past 2 months a new and rather fine playpark and adventure area was erected by the Mother's Committee. Many thanks to Kevin and Julie from the Hotel for donating the land: to Malden Timer Co. for generously supplying the timber: to Steph, John Porrelli and John Galbraith for their construction efforts: to Lee for her paint work: to Ewen Campbell for ropes: to our editor for ground clearance and to anyone else involved. Thank you.

Golf: - the usual huge turnout at Cliad for the Coll Open Championships.
Thorburn Cup: Lawrence Ward.            Members Cup: David Moore Jnr.
Moore Shield: Jim Graham.                  MacRae Cup: John English.
Women's Cup: Marion Graham.             Women's Trophy: Cath. Stevenson.
Junior Salver: Ian Monaghan.

Cricket: - rain stopped play. The 'Rest of the World' cried off.

Fishing: -
a tremendous turnout at the middle pier.
Best total catch: Innes Henderson.              Heaviest fish: (local) Colin Kennedy.
2nd. best total catch: Robert Sturgeon Jnr.   Heaviest fish: (visitor) Jim Cowan.

Yatching: - the Tobermory - Coll race, sponsored by the Coll Hotel, was won for the second year running by 'The Islander'.

November 5th.: - blazing bonfire; roaring rockets, many thanks to the fire builders, rocket lighters and refreshment ladies.

Christmas Party: - a new format this year: a brilliant buffet and a great success.

Senior Citizens Christmas Party: - a traditional feast sponsored by this magazine, a great time was had by all. Keep Fit: - keeps going in fits and jerks.

Coastguard: - still one of the best and most enthusiastic in the West. Fortunately, no call-out.

New Year's Eve Dance: - a power cut but what a great way to see in the New Year.

Children's Library: - every Saturday morning in the school: well done Alison.

Walking: - a truly wonderful achievement by Fay and Tina Anderson on raising £496 (!) for the school summer trip.

Bog Cotton Band: - still going strong but with some new members: practice sessions every Sunday night in the Coll Hotel: lets hope their tape will be available soon.

Thanks: - a special thankyou to Alan Brodie for all his hard work in keeping Coll “one of the tidiest islands going".
