CHILDREN'S COMPETITION

The pupils of Arinagour School were asked to write and/or draw something on the theme of the sea. Several interesting adventure stories about islands and boats resulted, but my favourites for originality and humour were the following. Catriona and David will receive prizes in due course.

I GO DIVING

I went diving and I saw a shark so I hid behind a big rock until it passed. I saw very nice fish and shells and lots of wrecks. The dolphins were jumping out of the water and they were teaching the young ones to jump and how to follow a ship.

One day a ship came by and the little dolphins followed the ship. Its mother said not to go too close. Something was dropping into the sea and one thing came up to the dolphin.

The dolphin said, 'What is your name?' but the thing only made bubbles. The thing was a person. The person swam to the surface and more people were around him.

The dolphin's name was Bimbo. Bimbo said, 'What kind of game is this?' One man said get the net to another and they put it under Bimbo. They put him in the special tank and gave him a ball. One man was washing the deck and Bimbo hit the ball to him. The man dropped tho hose and bimbo picked it up and put more water into the tank so he could jump out.

He did jump out as the men came onto the deck. He was free at last and he went to his mother and father.
