Scottish Arts Council Event

The age old yet fast disappearing, Gaelic tradition of storytelling was revealed to the primary school children when they were visited by Paraig MacNeil, storyteller, in March of this year.
The visit was arranged by Argyll & Bute District Library and was funded by the Scottish Arts Council. Paraig met the children in the school where, over 2 days, they learnt some simple gaelic songs and were captivated by Paraig's colourful storytelling.
The children were not the only beneficiaries of this cultural treat. An open storytelling workshop was held in the school and this was very well attended indeed. Later on in the evening. Paraig sang gaelic songs at the Hotel, accompanied by Sharon Williams, Young People's librarian, on the clarsach. It was an enjoyable and informative interlude.
