Today we got specimens for the tank. We went to the shore at low tide. First we got mussels and whelks. We put them in a bucket with seaweed. We caught a fish and a crab. We went home and put 5 gallons of seawater in the tank and put the specimens in.

We collected some more today. We went to rock pools at Struan beach. We caught one shore crab, two horse mackerel, two flounders, one sea anemone, two common prawns and two lump suckers. We took them all home and put them in the tank.

Tonight we emptied the tank and took out the animals. Most of the animals had died. We put the filter in and sealed it with washed gravel and filled it with water. We fixed the pump. Finally I put the remaining animals back in the tank.

We went to Cornaig at low tide. Dad caught a prawn. Helena got a slightly smaller one. I got some saithe, a few horse mackerel and what we thought was a sand eel. Finn got a sand eel. When we put them in the tank we saw that my eel was a tiny dogfish.

Today we went out in Sunbeam. It was a sunny evening. We tried the fishing and caught fifty mackerel, two saithe and a small lythe.
