The School Year We have tried to keep an environmental theme running through the school this Year. After '91, we spent a couple of afternoons picking up litter in the village, with the help of some parents. Our efforts were rewarded with a grant from the Argyll and Bute Trust and a huge heap of rubbish at the school gate.
Some of that money went towards a school picnic at the end of June. Pupils, parents and teachers all piled into cars and went to Red Rocks for the day. Everyone had a great time, swirmling, building sandcastles and generally messing about.
The environmental theme continued in the form of a short musical play the children performed at their Prize Giving. The Prizes were presented by Mrs. Stewart. Two special prizes were presented. The first was a silver cup, donated by Florence Russell, for endeavour. perseverance and diligence. This cup will be presented annually and this year was won by Julia Payne. Mrs. Stewart donated a second prize for the best project work; this was won by Jessica Bell for her science work.
The older children were also presented with their I.B.M. Ten Step Athletic Awards.
Jessica Bell left us for Tobermory High School and Robin Lunghi went to Forehill Primary School in Ayr.
Our weekly collection for Barnados amounted to £68.00 this year, a tremendous effort.
Two new pupils joined Primary 1 after the Summer. Paul Meryon and Catriona Biel.
Early in the term two new members were appointed to the School Board: Karen T aylor and Stef Biel. We hope they enjoy their period of service ald find it informative.
In November, we held a Whist Drive to raise funds for our school trip to Edinburgh in June. We raised £105.87 which is a good start to our fund.
Christmas saw our annual Nativity Play and Carol Concert. The children performed a musical play called “Don't Forget the Manger” and a selection of papular carols. A collection for Yorkhill Hospital raised £53.20.
I would like to say a big thankyou to all parents and friends who have supported us throughout the year. |
