Memories of School

MEMORIES OF SCHOOL

As part of the end of term ceremony at Arinagour Primary School John Allan MacRae presented a valedictory speech which we now reproduce in full. John Allan is now a pupil at Keil school, Dumbarton.

I remember the morning I came to school when I walked through the corridors, the P7s towering over me on the way to lunch. I wasn't looking forward to my first day at school. The reason I wasn't looking forward to it was the thought of work! But after a couple of days I got used to it. My favourite subject then was reading these kind of house shaped books. I have always enjoyed P.E. My favourite part in P.F. is circuit training and basketball. Other kinds of work I have enjoyed all the time are art and technology. My sketch of a seal is the one I have been proudest of yet.

In 1992 the BBC came to Coll to film us in action for their School's programme. Words and Pictures. I remember when I had to walk up the track to the post box eighteen times to make sure I got it right!

While I have been at school I have been on three school trips and all of them have been really exciting for me. On the first one I went to Edinburgh and the best thing there was the Edinburgh Dungeons. On trip number two I went to Glasgow. The best thing there was Dinosaurs Alive. On the final school trip we went to Fort William and Aviemore. I enjoyed everything I saw and did. When I leave Arinagour Primary School I will miss it but I will never forget my time there. The things I will miss most are my pets, my friends and my family.
