THE SCHOOL TRIP

We left Coll on May 16th for a hectic three days! Travelled to Fort William and arrived at the Hostel tired but ready for the next few days activities. Next morning breakfast was eaten in the busy dining room of the hostel among other travellers, before setting off for Treasures of the Earth. The exhibition was amazing, but a little too advanced for us mere Primary folks. The gift shop was by far an almost greater 'treasure'.

Later in the day we all went on a cruise to Seal Island (you'd think we see enough of these at home) but the children loved it. I.ots of photographs taken here!

On Wednesday we travelled to Carrbridge where we visited the Highland Heritage and Adventure Park. I'm sure some of the boys were disappointed that the snakes and creepy crawlies were plastic! The view from the tower was amazing, although some said the view from the ground was more acceptable! The large chutes and monkey slide were a great success. They met Bob the horse. Given the chance they would have taken him home with them!

We visited the Boat of Garten Osprey centre and saw the Osprey on the nest via the close circuit television.

A trip in the gondolas up Aonach Mor was included to gasps of horror - does it get higher from the ground as we go up??. We calmly said no, hiding our white knuckles!

Also included in the trip was go-karting, skating and a visit to a film set. Sad to say the star wasn't in residence! There was disappointment that the swimming pools were either shut or busy, but a good time was had by all just the same!

We returned to Coll on May 20th. Us exhausted, the children already planning what to do for the next school trip.

My favourite part of the school trip was when we went go-karting because it was fast and fun. Sara Oliphant.

The bit I liked best was the ice skating rink because I could skate and I had never done it before. Donald Munro.

My favourite was when we went go-karting because it was fun. Ruth Mackie. My favourite part of the trip was the go-karting. I liked it because it goes faster than my bike and I liked overtaking people. Andrew Fraser.

I liked Landmark because it was huge and interesting, and the long walks and the playpark. We saw a red squirrel. The steam engine was good. Ian Fraser.

The Away Days

One day when the big ones went on the school trip the little ones stayed on Coll with Mrs Evans. We went on lots of trips. One when we went to the beach, the next one was when we went on the bird trip with Charlie. He showed us some fulmars and all kinds of birds. After the bird trip we went over to Mairi’s to have some cake and drinks. Then Mairi took us in her landrover back to Mrs Evans’ car. Then Mrs Evans drove us back to school.

My Dog
He slithers and slobbers
and grumbles and groans.
He doesn’t stop eating all day.
When he is hungry he doesn’t
stop waggling his tail or flopping
it’s ears.
That’s all I have to say
today.

MY SCHOOL

School, school, I love you school.
School is the best thing onearth.
Mrs Barr and Mrs Evans are good to us.

Oliver Drops It

Oliver is Sam's teddy. He used to be Sam's Mum's bear, which means he is very old. Being old has not made Oliver very sensible. Here is what happened on the day Oliver and Sam decided to do some baking.

Let's make some jam tarts for tea said Sam. Mix it up and make it nice. Pop goes the weasel! Here you go Oliver, you can play with this piece while I roll mine out. What a long snake you have! 1 am making mine into shapers, said Sam. Oh poor snake, you smashed it flat. One spoon full of jam, a spoonful of jam in that one, now you are going to roll it flat so you can make some tarts. Oh no Oliver! Don't throw it up. It has fallen on the ground so we can feed it to the birds.

BADGERS

Two badgers went out to play
one played on a swing
the other played on a slide
then they went home

Two little badgers met in a wood,
One called Tom and the other called Pud.
They jumped and sang and had a good time
They ate frogs and grass
and they were so tired they nearly fell asleep.

The United States army helicopters are green and dark and black. They are probably very fun to fly in. They have got big blades on the top. This is a Bell model 209 AH-1G Hueycobra. It was the first attack helicopter. It has got a minigun and underwing weapons. Its maximum speed was 219mph.
