Preface
Reader! As you open this Almanac for the year 1890, and see how soon the new decennial term begins, try to think that you may have to look back upon it from the year 1990. But whether that happen or not, your beginning a new period of time may serve to suggest that it is well to make a new departure in many ways. If you have done amiss, you may make amend; if you have made an enemy, you can make him a friend; if you have acted wrongly, you may now act rightly.

We have been fairly prosperous this year. The public health has been exceptionally good. Prices for farming produce are much advance; and, with a general improvement in tyrade, these prices will not only be maintained, but will rise higher.

We include with this number an illustration of great interest – that if laid aside will in after years be of greater interest still. May these young folks go on and prosper – do good and halt not – and succeed in this life by honest means, while preparing themselves for the life elsewhere
