Painters in the Woodwork

It was a cold and windy Coll night. The Limoges china and Damask cloths in the hotel dining room safely packed away, 20-odd would-be artists headed village-wards. Cosy and concentrating, the artists wrestled with still-life studies with murmurs of 'I can't do this', 'I'm not coming again' and 'It's tiring, isn't it?' - until a stern voice from the rear said, 'There'd be no fun in coming if you could do it already.'
With this their motto, tenacity won through and some admirable and accomplished paintings appeared, revealing considerable hidden talents.
Lee had trouble with her 'parts', Stove Major struggled with his wind-mill (and produced two paintings to everyone else's one!) and another painter spotted a pair of maiden's breasts in his pot, wondering whether to put them in or leave them out. A point to ponder.. .
Around ninety splendid pictures resulted from tired but rewarded islanders. The bonhomie of the evenings made for an enjoyable get-together and the necessary debriefing session continued not too far from the dining room. Later several spouses were awakened in the early hours to view the accomplishments of the evening. Their remarks are censored.
A special thanks to Kevin and Julie for providing a venue with all the requisite facilities.
