Deaths:

Mary MacRae:
8th. September 1909 - 3rd. September 1993.
The death of Mary MacRae just a few days before her 84th. birthday came as a great sadness to islanders here. She will be remembered not only for the varied life she had lived on Coll - including even census work on one occasion - but for the lively mind and warmth with which she welcomed visitors.

Ruth Smith:
27th. July 1945 - 1st. July 1993
The death of Ruth Smith in July came as a shock to the island. Ruth and Neil had lived in Gallanach for a short time but had become valued members of the community. Ruth was especially fond of the animals on the farm and enjoyed looking after any sickly lamb or calf. She loved Coll as a girl, spending many holidays here. Her gentleness and kindness will be long remembered by those of us fortunate enough to have known her, sadly for so short a time.
