WELCOME: -

To Dougie Brown -always a familiar figure on the island since he seems already to have several jobs and to live in at least three different places; Coll is pleased to list him now amongst the permanent residents.

To Bunty and Lesle Bale who have moved into the Roundhouse. No strangers to Coll, they are enjoying the quiet life after the bustle of Chester. We're sure they'll enjoy it more when they get their bathroom.

To Barbara and Mick Payne and their children Julia and Robbie, who have moved to Coll from Basingstoke- and who can blame them? They are now the proud owners of the shop - formerly Buckland's Stores, now the Island Stores. They have set themselves the job of increasing the stock and widening their range without spoiling the atmosphere of the friendly local shop. We wish them well.

FAREWELL: -

To Hamish and Viv, and children, Matthew and Ivy. They seem to have been tempted back to civilization you remember surely, fish and chip shops, libraries, traffic jams and money in the bank, etc. Perhaps they've got the right idea.

CONGRATULATIONS: To Superintendent Angus Kennedy, Force Information Officer with Strathclyde Police. He received the Queen's Police Medal in the New Year's Honours List in recognition of the role he played following the Lockerbie disaster. We're also grateful for his assistance with the Burns Supper preparations.
