During the last three years it has been encouraging to feel that a small island Kirk can become a place of Christian unity where people from many different Christian traditions can come together to acknowledge one God under one roof.

Many have been prepared to take an active part in the worship with readings, prayers and addresses being given by many different members of the congregation. Such a willingness to be involved has contributed to our worship in a way which helps to make a living faith relevant to our daily lives.

There have been baptisms, new members and new elders admitted to the church. The Sunday School has been busy, new and old hymns have been sung with enthusiasm, a rota of organists have freely contributed their talents, a "choir" has been formed to help bolster congregational singing, and links have been made with a black African school. The church has become a meeting place for those who want to be challenged into making sure that, despite the attitudes of a secular world, the faith which has sustained many over the centuries must be brought alive for a new generation.

Such a responsibility is a personal one and many have accepted that responsibility knowing that we all have our part to play. Ministers have their role but it is the response of the congregation which ultimately decides the church which we deserve.
