Editor's COLL-umn
The Coll Magazine is five this year - and flourishing I'm happy to say. As we have practically sold out of the last two issues, we're printing more this time - 1,500 copies . . . Murdoch and Maxwell here we come! If you'd like to help us keep at this level, please subscribe now to next year's issue, using the subscription slip inside.
We're carrying on a few successful series this year, such as island enterprises past and present, the last of our Travellers' Tales, and a bulletin about Coll during World War II. (Actually we don't want a third bulletin!) And if some readers suppose that Coll sinks into a state of gloom and apathy during the months when the 'summer swallows' and tourists are absent, then our new feature, 'McColl's Clippings', will show how wrong they are.
Again I'd like to thank all who have contributed words and/or money, our advertisers (both loyal and new), Mairi Hedderwick who does so much to make each issue look good, and Florence Russell who helps in several ways, particularly with advertising. Next year's issue will include features on Sorisdale, on the island's roads and its postal services. Would anyone with relevant information, anecdotes, illustrations (including photographs) please contact me at Hyne during the summer. |
