The Coll Agricultural and Horticultural Society held its 64th Annual Meeting on 2nd August, 1985. Despite a summer of poor weather, there were plenty of competitors. Judges for the day were:- Mr D. Maclntyre - sheep; Mrs Maclean, Tiree - Industrial; Mrs Boulin, Tiree - pets; the Horticultural Section, which was slightly smaller than usual, was judged by Mr J. Carter, Tiree. A Handicraft Cup was donated by Mr D. Curie, Chairman of Argyll and Bute District Council and this section was judged by Mrs M. Davies, also from Tiree.
The sports - a great success - were organised by David Moore and Dave Allan. A two-mile road race attracted a lot of competitors - both locals and `summer swallows.' Mrs Chrissie MacKinnon's dancers gave an excellent dancing display, piped by S. MacKinnon. Mr Alan Brodie, President, invited Mr Lachie MacDonald to present the cups at the end of the Show.
