A Hallowe'en Party

A Hallow'en Party

The children were having a Hallowe'en party in the school hall. They were all enjoying themselves, singing and dancing, eating and drinking. Suddenly, the lights went out. . .

Mrs Gibson went out of the room. All the children were very frightend. We lit a candle and sat round a turnip lantern. Mrs Gibson came back and said that it was a power cut. We could hear the wind blowing outside then the piano began to ply and the children began to stir. They began to duck for apples.

They were happy until a tree fell out side it broke one of the schools windows. Mrs Gibson went to see what it was. The headteacher stayed with us. Mrs Gibson told us we would have to go out and pull the tree off the road. We all got hold of a branch and pulled. We could not move the tree. A car came round the corner and screeched to a halt.

A man got out and said to us that we were all too young to be out at that time of night.  Mrs Gibson said "but I'm 43 years old" we could see the man going red. He moved the tree for us then drove us home.

My mum had a good laugh about it

Thanks to Mrs Oliphant and the children of Arinagour Primary for their contributions to "The Coll Magazine". What about this beginning for another story:

". . . On a beautiful summer's day, all the children of Arinagour Primary School went for a picnic to Gunna Sound. Most of them paddled and swam, but some others found a deep dark cleft in the rocks. . ."
