The Camp

THE CAMP

One day Dad, Andrew and I went to Gunna. As we packed the boat the tide went out, so we went home miserable that we couldn't go. Then when the tide came back in we managed to go.

It was flat calm. I was happy when we got there. I had to jump on a rock with a rope, to pull the boat in. I was soaked with spray. I got changed and put my wet clothes on a rock to dry. We set up camp, but we had trouble putting the tent up.

We went for a walk around the island. We saw lots of cows and eider ducks on their nests. We collected wood for the fire, there was piles of wood to collect.

We all had some burger rations which the T.A. had left at the Hotel. We stayed up late. I was going to bed when a rat came darting past the fire. I said, "I wish Thomas was here, he would love that rat." I woke up to find some male and female eider ducks were hooting away. I woke Dad and Andrew up and we had breakfast and did the washing in the sea. It was a lovely day.

We set off to the village. We decided to pop into Hyne. We had a cup of tea and biscuits from Barbara and Ken. We were coming into Arinagour to have lunch and to pick up Sara and Kip. We set off to Bousd. Sara tried to drive the boat but she wasn't very good, so I got to drive. We stopped at the Cairns to look at the birds. Then we arrived home. I couldn't believe that I had been right round the island.
